OUR WEATHER PROOF GUIDE TO BIG BOUNCY HAIR

There's nothing worse than spending time and effort on the perfect blowdry... Just to step outside and have it destroyed by the weather. Thats why we have created you the perfect step-by-step guide for the most flawless, weather-proof blowdry.

Now you can use any fancy tools, blow-dry hot brushes, or just a good old hairdryer and round brush, but without the perfect foundation, you will be wasting your time. So the first step... THE PRODUCTS.

Now, this line-up will be personal to you. But we are going to help you cut out the trial and error, and educate you on your product knowledge. Because you need to understand what you're using and why. (But dont worry, its actually a lot easier than you think.)

Our first secret is to always use a detoxifying shampoo. Our personal favourite in the L'Oreal Professionel Metal Detox shampoo. This will remove all product build up, oils and grease, helping with volume and freshness, whilst still protecting your hair. The perfect base to apply the right products.

So first things first, is your hair fine or thick? This will determine how much product you're going to use. If your hairs on the thinner side, you want less of the hydrating products, like creams and serums and oils, and more of the texturing products, like mouses, moulding sprays, dry shampoos.

Your 5 main products will need to go a little something like this.

Firstly, a blowdry cream. This softens your hair, adds shine, smoothness, moisture, and our favourite adds heat protection too (which you should always prioritise before oulling out your heat tool.) The KERASTASE ciment thermique is our go-to for thicker hair. The L'Oreal Prodessionel Techni Art Flex Blowdry cream is what we reach for, for our girlies with finer hair that needs abit more help in holding the curl.

Secondly, a humidity protection. This will save your hair in all weather conditions, and even if you decide to go to that pilates class, the day after your blow-out. Alongside everyone else, our favourite will always be the COLOUR WOW dreamcoat. However, for curlier, textured hair, this will be your best friend, but for the finer straighter hair girlies, we would only apply this around your hair line and maybe a spritz through the ends, where you're more prone to frizz.

Now, heres your third big step. You're going to need A LOT of mousse. Depending on how much hair you have, we would start with a small handful and see how your first sections feel. Your mousse it whats going to make your bounce stay and your hair mould. It makes blow-drying feel a little bit harder. But that extra work will help long term because the tension its what gets you the best results. At YUZU, we are either picking up our COLOR WOW XL Bombshell, or our L'Oreal Professionel Techni Art Extra Full Volume Mousse.

Our all time favourite, non-negotiable product is where the magic happens. This product will quite literally, transform your blow dry from average to looking like you just walked out of the salon with a bounce only a professional can give. If you're hair is fine, naturally straight or doesn't hold a curl well, then PLEASE. If there was even one thing you take from this guide, let it be this product. The L'Oreal Professionel Tecni Art PLI Spray. Its heat activated, moulds your hair round the brush like it was grown to bounce that way, and will make your blowdries last twice as long.

The last step, which is a no brainer for all the girls with bouncy hair, is how you're going to set your hair. Now this is more a 2in1. Firstly a serum or an oil to add shine and smoothness. Because no one wants a dull blow dry. If you're going to be swishing your bouncy blow dry around, at least give it some shine. This is really personal to your hair type and you can find your best fit on our product page. With a range of serums for blonde, split, or dry hair. And our second part to the last product, is a hair spray. This should probably be a whole step in itself, because the hair spray is actually a key step. Have you ever sprayed your hair to set it, brushed it moments later, just to brush all of the bounce out? yeah... so you dont want a sticky, lacquer type spray that sticks your hair in place leaving you with no movement, or real bounce. You want somethings that sprays evenly and leaves a soft coating over your hard work, protecting it from the obstacles your your hair will endure as soon as you step outside. Our holy grail is the L'Oreal Professionel Techni Art Anti-Frizz spray. I promise you, once you use this, you will never spray your freshly styled hair with anything else.

At YUZU, we hold a lot of value in finishing the hair with the perfect blow dry. Whether its a wavy, bouncy or sleek blow-dry. You always need to waft your hair off til its 80% dry, then work in 2 inch sections starting from the root and working your way to the ends. When creating a curl or bounce, you can either set your blow dry with a roller, or the cool shot in your hairdryer. Either way, you need your hair to set into the curl you're wanting and never drop it when its still warm.

So lets summarise our key points...

  • Clean scalp
  • Structured product line-up
  • Tension within your blowdry
  • Setting your blowdry before it cools down
  • And of course documenting it with a selfie (and tagging us)

Because at YUZU we believe good hair shouldn't depend on the weather and it should look as good at 9pm as it did at 9am. At who better to guide you than professionals that do this every single day. So when you want to give yourself a break from blowdrying your own hair every week, book your appointment and enjoy it being done for you.
